AAAA record

AAAA records are alternative to A records. They are used if your server you want to display your content from is using IPv6 IP address.

How is AAAA record represented

*  600  IN  AAAA   2A03: 2880: 2110: df07: face: b00c: 0:1.

Example of AAAA record
We want to direct subdomain blog.mydomain.com to 2A03: 2880: 2110: df07: face: b00c: 0: 1 (IPv6 facebook). As you can see, it is not common IP in IPv4 format which is used in A records. It is IPv6 address you can use in AAAA records.

Editing DNS A record

  1. Log in to the WebAdmin
  2. Select your Domain in the Services tab
  3. Select DNS settings in the left menu and then DNS settings
  4. There select the AAAA record

In this section you can see your existing DNS records. You can add new AAAA record or edit or delete an existing AAAA record.

Edit AAAA record form

  • Enter the domain/subdomain name to the For address field
  • To the Target IP enter IPv6 address
  • TTL parameter defines for how long the provider’s servers can remember this DNS setting. TTL is in seconds.
  • Note is for any note or comment. You can leave it blank or fill with anything you want.

After the form is filled, select Save changes

Deleting AAAA record

Select the records you wish to delete in the list (checkbox on the left). Then select Delete in the bottom.

If you want to restore previously deleted record, you can restore it in the Change log. All you need to do is to look up the record and select Restore. The record will be restored to the state before deletion.
