Renting of a dedicated server entails the physical server, its housing (placement) in the data center, secure connectivity to the internet, installation of software and server of the hardware components. In this guide we will describe all the necessary technical details connected with the operation, monitoring, editing parameters or scaling.
Hardware of the server
Hardware parameters of the server are built based on client’s need from the enterprise of Dell PowerEdge brand with the use of Intel Xeon processing units. We use only the server components, that are tested for long-term and continuous operation. See all our available hardware configuration for yourself »
Components of the server can be added – no matter if hard disc drives (HDD), SSD, operating memory RAM or other CPU units (as much as the free slots in the server allows). Parameters of the server can be configured individually outside of the standard configuration.
Except the local disk capacity, it is possible to extend the server by network (NFS) up to 6 TB with the use of service Storage ».
If you need, there is an option to combine multiple dedicated servers into cluster, or more precisely to horizontally scale them to one single unit. We will gladly help you to find a solution for you.
Installation of OS and software
We have rich experience with most of the current (LTS) Linux distributions (Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS, etc.), virtualization platforms (VMware ESXi, Citrix XenServer), but also commercial systems like Microsoft Windows Server (we provide the license for you), Hyper-V Server or RedHat Enterprise Linux. We are partner of Microsoft company, which allow us to provide Windows license in a form of SPLA – Services Provider License Agreement. To each server you have of course the full root (admin) access with the option of remote installation of own OS.
Placement of the server in the datra center
Servers are housed in the data server in Bratislava. It is DC category Tier III, that fulfill demands for continuous operation and are fitted with backup systems for network and energy connection, including multiple diesel generators. It is designed and operated so it would secure you with the highest of current standards. It fulfills all demands for security, access, reliability, redundancy, scaling and stable environment.
Customers have no physical access to the server nor to data center. Administration is completely remote or done by our technicians.

Networking
Your dedicated server will be connected in the data center by two network cards in two different switches with 1Gbit/s line. To be sure you will have also two independent global internet providers.
More demanding clients will appreciate the possibility to connect their server setup with 10 GBps network. This option is available for complex clusters of dedicated server. To each server we provide 1 IPv4 address. Servers are not additionally restricted neither by speed of connection nor by the amount of data transferred.
Monitoring
Each dedicated server is monitored from the perspective of its availability and disc state, as much as the operating system allows it (OS with support of Zabbix agent). This basic monitoring is possible to extend to full Monitoring service. At that moment we check all system parameters necessary for server operation, monitoring provides the information about availability of critical services and check parameters such as disc capacity, RAID status, usage of RAM and CPU load and many others. So it is not only if the server is working, but also what is happening inside.
Data are collected in real time and sent in 60 seconds intervals – you can see immediately how the changes in your application or configuration manifest.

Management
Dedicated servers can be managed by yourself or you can use our service Server management (for Linux distributions). Except standard access via services on public IP (or FQDN) as SSH or RDP you can access via iDRAC module as well. You can temporarily allow it and turn on, off, restart or access the console remotely.
When the server is managed by Active24, our admins cover all the work to maintain the stable course of your server. The work include reaction and help during incidents and outages. Including in the management we also provide the maintenance and upgrades of server components regarding the stable and secure course of your applications. We can also help you for a fee with tuning performance of your application, install additional components, design and realize specific software architecture or setting. Backups
We offer the option to backup your data from the server. Backups are located in a geographically different data center than the physical server. Process of creating the backup is done in regular intervals (each day in the night hours, or early morning hours) via optical lines between data centers. Backups can be created on the level of disc, databases or specific directories. Price is based on the amount of data, that are stored once a day for 14 calendar days. First day a full backup is created, after that only differential backups are added.
For Linux operating systems we use our own backup solution, that creates the backup on the level of file system. For Microsoft Windows we offer SMB/Samba share storage.
