Remote access to the dedicated server

Dedicated server service supports even the remote access via iDRAC (or IPMI depending on the server model). It is an autonomous system that is part of the server and allows its remote management. Typical example is the hard restart of the server or its start. iDRAC allows even remote reinstallation of operating system of the server.

Activating access

Access to the remote management is possible to activate in the WebAdmin. From the list of services select the server. Then select Activate IPMI. You will be then automatically redirected to the generated temporary public IP, username and password. The access is possible for 2 hours after which it will be automatically cancelled. In the case of more time-consuming operation it is possible to prolong the interval. The information is located in the bottom part of the WebAdmin.

Recommendation

Remote management via iDRAC is recommended only for maintenance operation like restart during problem with operating system, local log in for removing remote access (RDP, SSH) etc. Other parameters are recommended not to be changed for proper function of the server.

Warning: Remote management via iDRAC does not server as a replacement of services SSH and RDP. It is for necessary maintenance access.
