FTP (File transfer protocol) – is a protocol to transfer files on the disc space of the server managed by the hosting services provider. For the FTP usage you require to use special piece of software (FTP client). You can have it installed on your PC or you can get to the content of the webhosting via web FTP interface.


Creating FTP account

Before the first login it is necessary to create FTP account. Login credentials of the FTP account represents the most basic access to the content of your files on the server, along with the FTP client. Credentials can be created for yourself or you can send them to a specified e-mail straight from WebAdmin.

  1. Log in to the WebAdmin
  2. Under the Services section locate your domain and select it
  3. Select the FTP accounts in the left menu
  4. In the top right corner press the button Create new FTP account

If you do not remember your login credentials or you need to edit them in any way, follow these steps:

1. Log in to the WebAdmin
2. Under the Services section locate your domain and select it
3. Select FTP accounts from the left menu


4. Select the name of your login and on the next page all login details will be displayed with the option to change the settings or change the password.

FTP client

FTP client will allow you to perform operation with the files and directories (including mass operations), like copy, edit, delete, rename, upload of the data to the server or download from the server to your computer. To log in to the client you need FTP login credentials. There are many FTP clients. These are well known and recommended:

  • FileZilla
  • Total Commander
  • WinSCP
  • CyberDuck
  • webFTP or FTP connection via web browser
