To export all emails from Gmail, follow these steps:
- Go to https://takeout.google.com/ and select only the Mail option (this will create an MBOX file).
- Download and install Thunderbird from the official website.
- Add the Gmail account from which you want to synchronize emails.
- Install the “ImportExportTools NG” add-on in Thunderbird.
- In the left panel of Thunderbird, select Local Folders (or a specific folder where you want to import the emails). You can also right-click on “Local Folders”.
- Right-click on the chosen folder and select ImportExportTools NG.
- From the menu, choose Import Mbox file.
- Browse to the location on your computer where the MBOX file is saved, select it, and click Open.
- The emails will be imported into the selected Thunderbird folder.
This method can also create a separate local folder specifically for the imported files, allowing you to decide which emails to move into account folders later.
It also keeps all messages stored in their original Gmail format under gmail.com.
